Your legacy, Exeter’s future
Many supporters choose to leave an unrestricted gift to the University.
Others choose for their legacy gift to support a particular department, area of research, sports club or society that reflects their own experiences, values or passions.
Unless you request otherwise, unrestricted gifts in Wills are added to the Exeter Forever Endowment Fund. This means your gift is invested for the long term, with only the income generated from the fund used to support Exeter’s future priorities.
This approach allows your gift to create lasting impact for generations to come, while giving the University flexibility to respond to areas of greatest need in the future.
Where gifts are intended for a specific purpose, we are always happy to provide guidance to help ensure your gift can continue to reflect your wishes in the future.
At the University of Exeter, we’re committed to using the power of our education and research to create a greener, healthier and fairer future for all.
Help to support a greener future
Achieving a sustainable future for humanity on earth underpins Exeter’s world-class environment and sustainability research. Researchers are working across disciplines and across the University to develop pioneering research which impacts upon the world we live in.
Together they are influencing international policy, shaping global debate, and developing positive responses to climate and ecological crises
Our researchers are not just focusing on the here and now – they are exploring how to mitigate the environmental challenges we will face in the decades to come.
You can support our vital environmental and sustainability research and help to protect the future of our planet with a gift in your Will.
We’re leading the world through our Sustainable Development Goals in Clean Water and are amongst the very best in Europe for Climate Action and Zero Hunger.
Help to create a healthier future
The University of Exeter is tackling global health challenges head on. Gifts in Wills in support of our Health and Medical research will help our researchers continue to make vital breakthroughs in the fight against diseases such as cancer, dementia, and diabetes.
Connie Fozzard, who worked as a consultant and Registrar at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, left a generous gift in her Will to the University of Exeter Medical School from her estate. The money will fund bursaries for medical students from the region from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“Her dedication to the public and education of future doctors could not be made more clear than from the wonderful legacy she has left to the University of Exeter Medical School and we will forever be grateful and always remember her.”
Professor Ian Fussell, Associate Pro Vice Chancellor of Education, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.
"This bursary will give me the opportunity to explore this part of my life without any financial stress which I am so grateful for. I am so thankful to be given this opportunity by such a kind person."
Recipient of a Connie Fozzard Legacy Scholarship
Help to enable a fairer future
At Exeter we are working hard to make sure the University is open to everyone with the academic ability, irrespective of their background or financial circumstances. This includes both support to come to Exeter, and opening up opportunities to fulfil their potential while here.
We believe that all students should have equal and fair access to Higher Education. Depending on their financial, personal, or ethnic background, students may face additional challenges not only in applying to university, but in their studies once they are here.
Professor Akos Toth (PhD Law, 1971) left a legacy gift to the University of Exeter to fund postgraduate scholarships in the Law School enabling future generations to thrive.
Thanks to generous legacy gifts from our alumni and supporters, we have been able to offer scholarships from undergraduate to PhD programmes.
A gift in your Will may enable future generations to pursue their dreams of accessing Higher Education.
