A message from President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Lisa Roberts.
I am thrilled to share with you our 2025 Donor Impact Report, which reflects the extraordinary generosity and commitment of the Exeter community.
Over the past academic year, your incredible support has both inspired and empowered us to achieve new heights of excellence across education, research, and the student experience.
Our remarkable achievements last year are a direct result of our supporters’ generosity. Thanks to you, Exeter secured over £25 million in philanthropic pledges, creating transformative impact across the University. This includes visionary seven-figure donations from alumni for professorships in Medicine and Business, an additional £15 million pledge for the new Al Qasimi Building, and significant charitable grants for our world-leading Centre for Microbiology and Planetary Health. Furthermore, these generous gifts have enriched student life by funding sports, societies, and essential scholarships for those in financial hardship and students at the Camborne School of Mines. Our legacy programme also saw exceptional success, securing future gifts in Wills worth an incredible £1.6 million.
I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude to the thousands of you who give your time to volunteer. The 15,125 hours you donated this year have impacted our students profoundly, from providing career mentorship to organising events both in person and online to welcoming new graduates into communities around the world. Volunteering activity has positively impacted key strategic objectives such as alumni engagement in national league tables and global reputation surveys. We are incredibly thankful for your time, expertise and guidance.
These efforts are central to our ambitions and reflect our shared commitment to making an impact within and beyond the boundaries of our campuses.
As we look to the future, I want to express my deep gratitude for your ongoing support. As our sector looks to navigate substantial financial challenges, to which our University is not immune, I want to let you know that your friendship and support is more needed and appreciated than ever before. Your generosity is the foundation upon which we build a greener, healthier, fairer future, and I am excited to build on our momentum and continue this important work together.
